A quick update from the Scots Pine PatcH

We have removed the old metal fencing along this stretch. It had become so broken and twisted that it was an eyesore and an unwelcome trip hazard, so it has now gone. Fortunately, the established hedgerow that is naturally developing along that line provides a far more attractive, natural boundary.

The area is now being left to rewild. We are keen to encourage native plant species, whilst staying on top of invasives like three-cornered leek which seems to have taken a stronghold in the top corner. There is also a non-native, but extremely wildlife-friendly plant, in this section, Honesty, which is one of the primary larval food plants for the native orange-tip butterfly.

If you are passing through to observe the bug hotel, please watch your step around the small saplings, and ideally keep footfall to a minimum so the new growth can establish undisturbed. Thank you.
