Although these routes aren’t specifically about wildlife, they offer a wonderful way to explore the natural environment of Horfield Common. Each one highlights different aspects of the Common’s biodiversity, taking you past some of its most distinctive trees and through areas that support a variety of habitats. It’s an enjoyable way to experience the beauty of the Common, while also benefiting from time spent outdoors in nature.
The Ardagh Circuit
The first of our routes is a tarmacked circular 1km that covers the edges of the Common, starting and finishing in the car park at The Ardagh and travelling through the avenues of London Planes, along Kellaway Avenue, and down the hill to the lower Common wildlife pond, then back up past the Community Orchard and the impressive Scots Pines, back to the car park.

The Full Common
Details of the longer routes to follow, but they traverse the whole of the Common (from the Ardagh to the Leisure Centre) and routes are marked out which take in more of the biodiversity of the Common.
